Delhi University Opens Admission Process for Various Programs for International Students

Delhi University (DU) has begun its application process for international students aiming to enroll in different courses for the 2021-22 academic year.

According to Erudera.com, students can apply online for several undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, or research courses, whereas the application form will be available on the website of the university’s international student registry.

In a statement, the DU registrar Vikas Gupta said that ‘Foreign students’ registry (FSR) of the University of Delhi, which assists international students wishing to take admission at the university has been inviting international students to submit applications for different study programs for the 2021-22 academic year.

The deadline for submitting applications depends on courses, some of which are as follows:

• For undergraduate programs, the deadline is May 31
• For postgraduate programs, the deadline is June 29
• For MPhil and Ph.D. courses, the deadline is July 30

Those wishing to enroll for an MBA and Ph.D. from the Faculty of Management Studies can submit their application forms until April 30. As per applicants for Bachelor and Masters courses in the School of Open Learning (SoL), the last date to apply is August 29.

In addition, the deadline to submit an application for “part-time affiliation” in any courses for up to two months is August 22.

During 2018/2019, India welcomed 47,427 international students from 164 countries in total, including 1,518 from the US, the official data have shown. Back then, the majority of international students in India came from the following countries:

• Nepal – 26.88 percent
• Afghanistan – 9.8 percent
• Bangladesh – 4.38 percent
• Sudan – 4.02 percent
• Bhutan – 3.82 percent
• Nigeria – 3.4 percent
• The US – 3.2 percent
• Yemen – 3.2 percent
• Sri Lanka – 2.64 percent
• Iran – 2.38 percent

In addition to international students moving to India for their higher education, there are also many Indian students pursuing studies abroad. For many of them, London is one of the top favorite study destinations. During 2019-2020, an increase of 8.4 percent has been noted in the number of Indian students pursuing studies in London, Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) data show.

Recently, the University Grants Commission of India notified that the top 100 Indian education institutions which have been included in the national rankings, as well as 500 others included in global rankings, would be able to establish connections with international institutions for academic and research collaborations. After the implementation, draft rules are expected to open the way for more collaborations between Indian and international institutions.
