University of Manchester to Offer Over 200 Scholarships Worth £3.5 Million for Int’l Students

The University of Manchester has announced that it will allocate a significant number of scholarships to international undergraduate and postgraduate students starting their studies this September.

The school will award 200 scholarships for the September 2024 intake, the value of which will be more than £3.5 million to provide support to prospective bachelor’s and master’s students, Erudera.com reports.

“To celebrate its bicentenary in 2024, Manchester is proud to offer more than 200 awards to international students commencing their studies in September 2024. The total value of scholarships will be more than £3.5 million, and awards will be open to prospective bachelor’s and master’s students,” the university said.

The types of scholarships that will be offered are:

  • Global Futures Scholarship
  • Humanities Bicentenary Scholarships
  • Humanities International Excellence Scholarship

The Global Futures Scholarship is designed for students worldwide at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Over 100 merit-based scholarships worth £21,000, will be allocated to international students wishing to pursue their bachelor’s degrees at the university.

Those applying for this scholarship should apply for first-year entry this year and hold qualifications such as A Levels, IB Diploma, Indian Class 12, or Advanced Placement (AP).

UoM said students from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are able apply for the Bicentenary Global Futures Scholarships,

At the same time, another 100 scholarships will be offered to international master’s students hailing from different parts of the world, according to a university’s statement. Students will be selected for this scholarship based on their academic performance and applications.

“The value of The Bicentenary Global Futures Scholarships for South Asian students is £8,000; scholarships will be awarded in the form of a discount on published overseas tuition fees,” the statement reads.

The school’s humanities department offers the Humanities Bicentenary Scholarships, which includes financial aid options for qualified students. Additionally, the Humanities International Excellence Scholarship is offered to excellent international students pursuing humanities postgraduate degrees.

Founded in 1824, Manchester is one of the largest campus-based universities in the United Kingdom, with over 26,000 undergraduate and 14,000 postgraduate students. The number of international students is over 10,000 students from 160 countries.

According to rankings, the University of Manchester is ranked 6th as the most popular university in the UK, 10th in Europe, and 41st worldwide.

The university most recently received £4 million from the British Heart Foundation (BHF) to support cardiovascular research over the next five years, bringing the total investment in this field to £8 million.
