Tuition at Radford University Increases for 2022/23

Radford University’s Board of Visitors Executive Committee has approved an increase in tuition and fees for the 2022/23 academic year.
The decision was taken during a special meeting held on June 13, 2022. The university announced in a press release that the increases apply to the main campus and Radford University Carilion (RUC), Erudera reports.
Radford’s executive committee approved an increase of 2,96 percent for undergraduate in-state students, a 3,00 percent increase for graduate students and a 3,97 percent comprehensive fee increase for the next academic year.
According to the university, these increases have been approved to maintain the university’s high-quality, student-focused education, strategic initiatives and student experience on campus.
The rector of the Board of Visitors, Bob Archer, said that every year, the university leadership and the members of the Radford University Board of Visitors pay attention to the issue of tuition and fees at the university.
Archer stressed that Radford has been lucky to maintain an even tuition rate for four years through the support of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
“However, we also recognize the realities of operating a university from a business perspective. At this time, the Board feels that a modest increase is justified due to the impact of increased costs at all levels, as well as other factors. We will continue to work, over time, to minimize the impact on our valued students due to the costs related to providing quality education and experience at Radford University,” he said.
Before approving the increases, the university noted that several factors were considered, including the state budget, state-mandated salary and benefit increases, and critical institutional priorities.
“We would all prefer that there be no increase. But at the same time, we have to maintain the financial integrity of the enterprise and the ability to operate in a way that creates value for the students,” Mark Lawrence, a member of the executive committee and former rector, said.
During a presentation to the Board, the interim vice president for finance and administration, Stephanie Jennelle, said that Radford remains devoted to offering a transformative educational experience to its students, accessible and affordable by all.
Radford University is a public university in Radford, Virginia, the United States. The institution is home to nearly 9,000 students.
