The Europainstitut / Institute for European Global Studies, founded in 1993, is an interdisciplinary research institute of the University of Basel that reports directly to the Rectorate. The institute examines the relationships between Switzerland and Europe in a global context and thus addresses a key area of ​​the 21st century in research and teaching.

With institute members from three different faculties and four subjects, the European Institute offers up-to-date and innovative academic training with a focus on interdisciplinary research approaches. The European Institute bundles expertise in politics, economics, philosophy, history and law in order to deal with the challenges, problems and opportunities of Europe in a globally networked world. Research and teaching are closely linked in an interdisciplinary master's and doctoral degree in European Global Studies . Students benefit from the lively exchange of forward-looking concepts in the dialogue between science, teaching and the public.
