Applications for Chevening Scholarships, the United Kingdom government’s international scholarships, and fellowships program have opened today (August 2) until November 1, 2022.

On this occasion, Head of Scholarships at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), Naomi Rayner, stressed that Chevening represents the best of the UK and aims to build an international community of people who work together toward positive changes.

Rayner added that this is done by bringing together talents from around the world and supporting them through education so they can succeed in life.

“In the UK we are proud of our world class universities and we know that our learning environments are enriched by the wide diversity of cultures, experiences and viewpoints represented on our campuses. Chevening scholars make a significant contribution to these communities, as well as becoming an important part of our network of over 50,000 alumni,” Rayner said.

According to a statement issued by the UK government, Chevening Scholarships are granted to people from all backgrounds who can prove that they are committed and have the necessary skills to make a positive change. The program supports studies at a UK university, mostly Master studies.

It offers full financial support to students pursuing a master’s degree at any university across the United Kingdom while the latter can also benefit from exclusive academic, professional, and cultural experiences.

British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Robert Chatterton Dickson said that the scholarship is a perfect opportunity for those who are passionate about driving changes locally and globally.

“Our 50,000 strong global alumni network is full of dynamic influencers who have shared the UK university experience. They offer encouragement, mentorship, advice, and contacts. When you return home after your studies you will be equipped to make a real difference professionally and socially,” Dickson said, advising students to apply before November 1 deadline if they have completed documents to be Chevening students.

More than 1,500 Chevening scholarships will be offered for the 2023/24 academic year, showing the UK’s continual commitment to helping leaders of tomorrow. Applications should be submitted online via the Chevening website.

The Chevening program was created in 1983, and since then, more than 50,000 professionals have studied through these scholarships.

The United Kingdom is one of the most popular study destinations in the world for international students, which every year becomes the home to thousands of international students. According to a survey carried out last year by The Campus Advisor, the UK ranks second as the most popular place to study for international students.

During the 2020/21 academic year, the UK has met its target of 600,000 international students ten years earlier. That year, the country welcomed 605,130 international students in total.
