Founded

The predecessor of the School of Life Sciences was the Department of Biophysics, University of Science and Technology of China, which was founded in 1958 by the famous scientist Mr. Bei Shizhang. The School of Life Sciences was established in 1998. Academician Shi Yunyu was the first dean. Now it has four departments: Department of Molecular Biology and Cell Biology, Department of Neurobiology and Biophysics, Department of Systems Biology (with the Shanghai Institute of Biological Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences) Jointly established by the Institute) and the Department of Medical Biotechnology (jointly established with the Guangzhou Institute of Biomedicine and Health, Chinese Academy of Sciences); eight research departments: Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Department of Neurobiology and Biophysics, and Systems Biology Department of Scientific Research, Department of Medical Biotechnology Research, Department of Microbiology and Immunology, Department of Cell Biology and Developmental Biology, Department of Biomedical Engineering, Department of Plant and Ecological Engineering; Two centers: Ecological and Environmental Studies Cross center. And is preparing to build the University of Science and Technology of China Medical Center; in addition, the college has five scientific research and technology platforms: Life Science Public Laboratory Center, Biosafety Level 3 Laboratory, Laboratory Animal Center, GMP Pilot Test Base, Integrated Imaging Center; five countries Level teaching demonstration or talent cultivation base: National Life Sciences and Biotechnology Talent Training Base, National Biology Undergraduate Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, National Basic Science Research and Teaching Talent Training Base, Basic Biology National Teaching Team, National Biology Science Special profession.
