Founded

   Institute of Modern Physics, Fudan University | Department of Nuclear Science and Technology, was founded in December 1958. It used to be called the Department of Atomic Energy, Department of Nuclear Science, and the Second Department of Physics. The department currently has undergraduate degree programs in nuclear engineering and nuclear technology, master degree programs in particle physics and nuclear physics, atomic and molecular physics, plasma physics, and doctoral degree programs in particle physics and nuclear physics, and atomic and molecular physics, which are among the first batch in the country. One of the doctoral and master's degree programs in nuclear physics and nuclear technology.

     The department currently has 52 faculty members and 38 senior titles , including 4 academicians, 2 American Physical Society fellows , 4 winners of the National Outstanding Youth Fund, and 4 "Four Youth" talents. Currently , 30-40 undergraduates are enrolled every year, and about 40 graduate students (master and doctoral) are enrolled every year
